An IPL Photofacial is a skin rejuvenating treatment that utilizes intense pulsed light to improve a variety of skin imperfections. This can include sun damage, pigmentation, age spots, redness, fine lines, poor texture, and large pores. Photofacials are non-invasive treatments requiring little to no downtime. A photofacial is an excellent treatment for luminous, younger looking skin for people with light to medium complexions.

For optimal results, we recommend a series of 4-6 treatments performed at 3-4 week intervals with maintenance treatments every 3 months. Each treatment can result in gradual lightening of hyperpigmentation and overall improvement in clarity and texture, depending on client’s skin condition. Those with advanced photo-aging may require more procedures.

Before and after the IPL Photofacial
A tan or tanning before a photofacial is not advised. This includes artificial tanning products/services such as tanning beds, spray tans or lotions. Your skin safety is our top priority, therefore, we will reschedule anyone who has a tan. The broadband light will be highly absorbed by the excess pigment in your skin that may result in burns and/or undesirable side effects. It is important to avoid extended sun exposure in the 3-4 weeks prior to treatment. After a treatment, use mild cleansers and moisturizers.  It is critical you protect the treated areas from sun exposure for 2-3 weeks post-treatment. After the procedure, sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 is a must to prevent the return of sun damage.

You may experience a sunburn sensation along with minor swelling post treatment. This should resolve in as little as a couple of hours to 48 hours and can be soothed with cold packs. Pigmented lesions may darken and form a micro crust after a photofacial. They may come to the surface of the skin and peel off or may just break up in the skin.
